Engineering & system architecture

Miroslav Pavleski

I work across engineering, system architecture, and technical delivery. My experience connects the detail of how a device or application works with the needs of the wider system and the people responsible for it. Bringing engineers and researchers from different organizations together has been a central part of that work.

Engineering foundations and product development

I graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Skopje, where I studied computer engineering, automation, and informatics. My professional experience began in 1999 with independent software engineering and ICT consulting, spanning telecommunications, enterprise applications, industrial electronics, embedded systems, and computer security.

From 2008 to 2011, I moved from software development into technical leadership for products supporting paperless business. My work included digital signatures, electronic archives, and electronic invoicing.

I developed multiplatform PDF-signing software and migrated a legacy Windows-only implementation to an architecture supporting Mac OS, Windows, and Linux. I also established a modular signing platform, with a shared core and extensible interfaces that supported enterprise customer deployments within their existing IT infrastructure.

Scientific systems and engineering leadership

From 2012 to 2020, my roles spanned scientific control-system development, project management, engineering management, and international business leadership. In those previous roles, I contributed to work for ITER, the European Spallation Source (ESS), MYRRHA, and ESO’s Extremely Large Telescope.

As an engineering manager from 2013 to 2018, I led a software group that grew from seven to 25 engineers, with work spanning control-system services, physics applications, and configuration data management. I also took on scientific-domain leadership in 2017 and sales leadership in 2018, with responsibilities for strategic research partnerships and international customer relationships.

My technical work also reaches into embedded equipment, motion control, physics modeling and simulation, and robotics. Connecting these layers has shaped how I approach the architecture of a complete system. Explore complex systems engineering.

Collaboration across Europe and North America

These earlier roles involved working across institutional and national boundaries, bringing practical engineering into joint design and development with scientific teams on both sides of the Atlantic.

For the ITER Real-Time Framework, I coordinated my engineering team’s contribution to the design, collaborating with experts at ITER in France, the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics in Germany, and Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) in the United States. I led the contractor team responsible for the bulk of the engineering work, providing technical direction and managing the team’s delivery.

I led my engineering team’s contribution to DISCS, a collaboration developing shared control-system software and information services for large scientific facilities. I worked with ESS in Sweden, the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB), and Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) in the United States. One example is IOC Factory at ESS, which helps teams configure, generate, and audit the software controllers used throughout the facility.

Through OpenXAL, I collaborated with ESS and the Spallation Neutron Source at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) in the United States on accelerator modeling software. My contributions included adapting the framework to ESS requirements and developing the software that builds simulation models from descriptions of the accelerator.

Enterprise systems and customer delivery

From 2020 to 2022, I worked in digitalization consulting and solution engineering, applying business intelligence, advanced analytics, and enterprise asset management for energy utilities, government, and industry. This built on earlier experience managing international customer relationships and sales teams across Europe, North America, and East Asia.

My enterprise background also includes resource planning, customer relationship management, data warehousing, work management, and electronic document systems.

Founding v3rtical

We founded v3rtical in 2022 to establish a foothold in finance and insurance through the product that would later become Reguvera. This work draws on our experience in digital signatures, enterprise software, and trusted digital services.

Reguvera brings onboarding, verification, staff review, and signing into a configurable workflow. It combines LLM-based agentic AI systems, vision-capable models for reading and validating documents, and System One models for fast, structured decisions without text generation. These capabilities connect with the documents, checks, and records that organizations need to make informed decisions.

Other engineering work at v3rtical

Alongside Reguvera, we have delivered engineering work in the energy, government, and healthcare sectors.

In healthcare, we contributed to a robotic medical laser R&D project for a customer. My contribution covered the overall engineering solution, including sensing, Robot Operating System (ROS) engineering, user experience, and development infrastructure.

The project brought together 3D sensing and surface reconstruction, path planning, robot motion control, and a touch interface with 3D visualization. The system used patient position tracking to adapt the robot’s movement to the patient’s motion, connecting perception and control with the operator’s view of the procedure. This work forms part of the practical experience I bring to our automation and complex systems engineering.

The people behind the technology

Throughout my career, the most important part of the work has been the people: customers facing a challenge, and the engineering and customer-success teams working to solve it. Understanding their needs keeps technical decisions connected to the purpose of the project.
